UP government’s YEIDA has just approved the Master Plan 2041 which this Olympic Park is a part of. Coming up near Jewar Airport – in Sector 22 - India plans to bid for and host Olympic Games in 2036 with this Olympic Park.
Once operational, these world-class sports facilities will also train local budding sportspersons and help them achieve laurels at national and global levels.
This Olympic Park will have 2 components: Olympic City spread in 965 acre and Olympic Village taking up 130 acre. The first will house Sports Stadiums, Training and Coaching Centres, Theme Parks, Convention Centres, and Shopping Malls. Meanwhile The Olympic Village will consist of 5,000 flats, including 1 BHK, 2 BHK, and 3 BHK units. These flats will be utilized by athletes, officials, and other individuals during the games.
India currently faces a shortage of resources to host Olympic Games. This is the reason why the decision was made to put up an Olympic Park in YEIDA, which is being developed with international-level facilities, ensuring that infrastructure questions don't arise if India gets the opportunity to host the Olympic Games in the future. As per what sports discipline those 29 stadiums will be dedicated to, the answer is that it depends on what games will ultimately make the cut and feature in Olympic 2036.
Currently, only the proposal in Master Plan 2041 has received approval, confirming that this land will be utilized for establishing the Olympic City and Olympic Village in the future. When planning for the project commences, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared, which will outline the specifics of how it will be implemented. It is expected that the authority will prepare this DPR on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
